Chassis and Gearbox

1. The chassis by definition is the portion of the vehicle that mounts all axles, gearboxes, hitch, body mounts, weight bars and suspension parts.  Depending on the class rules the chassis can be factory production, stock or modified or can be scratch built.  Plastic fiberglass, metal or other suitable material can be used.

2. A gearbox can be a separate unit or can be an integral part of the chassis and will be used to mount gears, belts or chains that drive the tires.  Depending upon the class rules the gearbox can be a factory production unit, modified or scratch built.

3. Vehicles built to run in 2WD classes will have 1 rear drive axle.  All 4WD vehicles with the exception of Big Rigs, shall have one rear drive axle and one front drive axle capable of steering the vehicle.  All drive tires must be the same diameter.

4. Front axles that are hinged, float or pivot must not let the vehicle rise more than ¾” before the front tires leave the track surface.

5. A chassis cannot be entered in the same class more than one time.  A chassis can be entered in more than one class.

Wheelie Bars

1. Wheelie bars are permitted in all classes.  The bars must not interfere with the pulling sled.  The device can be made up from a single or pair of bars mounted to the chassis, with a skid plate, a single roller or a pair of wheels attached.  The wheelie bar can extend past the tread of the rear tire a maximum of 1”.

2. The front wheels and or skid plate must not touch the track surface until the front wheels of the vehicle have clearly raised above the track surface.  The wheelie bar must be locked in place and cannot be used to push the front of the vehicle back to the track surface.
